Dear world,

Once upon a blog we wore great clothes
We took great photos
We defined our styles.

We broke hearts
We broke banks
And in the end, became better friends.

Our closets will remain crowded
But our joint blog will soon be empty.

This is the final post for Crowded Closet. We are moving on, splitting up and shutting it down—but in a good way. Please stay tuned for what comes next for us, and thank you for being such great blog followers. Stay fashionable!

Farewell from Kim Hearts. Hearts and love for one of my great friends Melissa. Melissa and I started Crowded Closet as a way for us to stay connected through our common interest of fashion. The endless funny faces, outfits and other photos sent back and forth have made us the best of friends and defined our own personal styles. I wanted to start the blog to be closer to a friend and was amazed to find a whole community of people I would call my friends. Now is the time for new ideas and new beginnings for the both of us. I am excited to be starting my own blog and will always remember the fun I had with Melissa and thank her for making my closet so crowded. HAHAHA. Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart, for your constant love and support. Stay tuned my new blog will be up soon! xoxoxo, Kim

Farewell from Melissa Fashion blogging has been a really exciting outlet for me. Pushing the limits of my tiny closet, warming up to having my photo taken on the streets of NYC (“put your chin down”), exploring the world of photography, and writing blurbs about my outfits was never tedious–it was loads of fun. The fashion blogging community is such a great community to be a part of and I feel extremely lucky to have shared a successful blog with a great girl within that community. Now what in the heck will I do with my lunch breaks?! Thank you for all the help, Shannon and Jenna. Thank you for all of the support from my friends and family. An extra large thank you to all of the strangers out there that clicked on our url, saved a bookmark and followed our tales. Best of luck to you, Kim, and your independent blog–it’s just the beginning. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us…  xo, Melissa. ps: Happy Birthday, Anna!

The weather is PERFECT. And I am sassy like a Cheetah today. Can’t you tell??? I would love to live in these leggings all the time. Embrace my inner cat. MEOW. Melissa actually convinced me that I should go ahead and buy these black version of her brown Madewell boots. I must say, I lusted these boots for a long time. All of these long loose layers are singing to me these days.

Mama had a lens baby! Shannon and I decided to take her new lens out for a spin after work and snapped a lot of fun photos on the way to and from Rickys. Surprisingly, they capture the outfit really well. We weren’t so sure how they would turn out!

I wore this cute decorative HnM dress as a t-shirt. It was a really blustery day and needed to wear tights in order to keep warm. Later in the day – in my afternoon haze – I daydreamed this dress sloppily tucked into beat up true blue denim cut-off shorts, which only made me regret wearing the skirt with it. Rubbish. Well, there’s always next time right? Right.

Breton Stripe Tuesday by eat.sleep.wear.

So the wonderful Jessica of What I Wore decided to put together a Breton Stripe Tuesday. Since I definitely have a slight stripe obsession… it was only natural. I was down in Virginia for my sister’s graduation from Nursing School (CONGRATS SISTA!!). I wanted to wear something with a nautical flair. The gold accents were the perfect way to snazz this up. After the graduation, we were able to take a walk on the beach with my whole family. Sand in toes is heaven. What a great weekend!!

Don’t forget to head over to Jessica’s page to check out the other lovely ladies of the stripes.

Remember when we caught a glimpse of summer? Well, someone took it away. Violently. And now it’s really cold. (I am secretly excited to wear tights and boots for the next two days… shhhh.)

These photos were taken on a lovely (and rather warm) evening last week while watching the sun go down on the Hudson River. A picnic, a pier and people watching… what more do you need?

Respect the Anchor by eat.sleep.wear.

So I couldn’t wait to strut around town with my screen printed anchor tote. I can imagine stuffing a beach towel in here, or a packed sandwich, or even some fresh flowers. I feel like a little sailer in my blue dress with the crisp collar. So the anchor was very fitting. This is one of the first times my little feet have seen the light of day. Let’s just say that I didn’t paint my toesies yet and Melissa would yell at me for no toe polish. So we will keep a nice distance back from them, K? I am starting to get REALLY excited for Summer. Please come faster!!! HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!

I’ve been cutting back on my shopping lately. I was doing so well until I saw this shirt, or should I say, until this shirt and it’s magnetic pull forced me to take it home with a gun to my head. Eeeeek, the things I’ll do for a little neon…

Ode to Carrie by eat.sleep.wear.

Carrie Bradshaw that is. This flower has sat amongst many other accessories in a drawer for WAY too long. The minute I saw this I knew it was going to turn me into the fabulous Carrie Bradshaw the instant I pinned it to my little black dress. Well, I will say, this flower brightened up this simple dress. I was headed to the orchestra this night. Something classic would have to do. I also went with a BRIGHT pink lip and virtually no eye makeup (see last photo!) Thanks to my trusty curling iron, 5 minutes later I was ready to go. I also have to thank our reader CarrieNYC for taking these photos for me and making me laugh!! I know everyone out there loves Carrie and her style as much as I do! Carrie can I be your friend??? HA!
